A musical extravaganza which showcases 1200+ talented young musicians from across the London borough of Brent in an exciting evening of innovation and entertainment. The now highly reputed Brent Makes Music is presented every two years and has become a landmark event for performers and audiences alike. The showcase offers an opportunity for all to enjoy an outstanding standard of performances and be part of ground-breaking musical initiatives. This year’s Brent Makes Music 2014 – Transforming Tradition is no exception and everyone is invited to come and experience a memorable and unique evening of professionally presented performances at this world leading venue.
Presented by Brent Music Service (BMS), Brent Makes Music 2014 – Transforming Tradition includes a wide variety of music you know and love, but given a fresh new approach with exciting and innovative arrangements and instrumental combinations. The evening features the voices of the 1000+ Brent Schools Massed Choir, award winning BMS ensembles and BMS orchestras, Brent Special Schools Ensemble, and welcomes the 2014 Brent Young Musician of the Year winner, Timothy Crawford (violin) as guest soloist.
The evening then culminates in a unique performance of a specially arranged version of thee ‘Motown Symphony’. Originally inspired by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Brent Music Service have transformed the work to combine the 1000+ voices of the Brent Schools Massed Choir, the Brent Concert Band, Brent String Orchestra the BMS Junior Choir and the Brent Singers in a show-stopping collection of Motown classics as never heard before.
The whole event offers a wealth of musical entertainment, bringing familiar and popular music to the stage through an exciting collection of performances by extremely talented young musicians - unravelling the music you know and love ... but with a Brent Music Service twist!
